What Being Part Of The You Are The Media Community Means To Me. By Liz Gordon

Lets share what being a part of You Are The Media community means to others.

Liz Gordon is from PR and marketing company, Brilliant Fish. Here Liz shares the importance of creating a place of learning and inclusivity.

“I was invited to the very first You Are The Media Lunch Club at Steele Raymond and knew immediately that this was going to be networking with a difference.

I have been going to different networking meetings since I started up Brilliant Fish in 2010, all with a view of meeting prospective clients.

YATM was unique in that it was clearly going to be a place to share best practice, meet peers and learn from those who are out there doing it. How refreshing!

What I have loved about it, as it has grown, is how that initial warmth and camaraderie, infused by the irrepressible Mark Masters, has continued and it has not lost its uniqueness.

The speakers are always relevant, informed, entertaining and speak plain English, and it is all woven beautifully into what we are all trying to do in everyday practice.

It would have been easy to have felt intimidated as an individual business owner mixing with successful agencies but I really haven’t. I can’t bear networking that is cliquey and YATM is far removed from that. There is a place for everyone.

Having now started up The Marketing Menu with Nicky Matthews of Media Box Marketing, we were thrilled to be given an opportunity to speak about our marketing podcasts and it gave us such confidence at a crucial stage of the business. To be able to present to our peers and to be taken ‘seriously’ amongst bigger players was really valuable to us.

To anyone looking to connect with like-minded people, I would highly recommend YATM as a ‘must attend’.

Great networking, fabulous food and most of all, it’s fun! Bring on 2018!”
